So you have a moth hole in your shirt...
If you own an original wool shirt or pair of wool trousers, it's inevitable that they either already have had (or will at some point have) moths get to them and leave you with a hole - or many holes - to fix. How do you do that, so it looks like an authentic, period-correct repair? You DARN it, of course. I'm sure you know how to do that, but in case you don't, here's a video to show you what to do...
Something that can make darning easier is a DARNING EGG. You may have seen one in an antique store or at your grandmother's house and thought it was just some sort of wierd wooden egg. You actually use it to help hold the fabric shape as you darn the hole. Its greatest attribute is that it keeps you from sticking your fingers as you darn!
